Our approach

Today’s inflammation data are fragmented, delayed, and often distorted by the instability of blood — a fragile window into biology that changes the moment it’s drawn. Cells rupture. Proteins shift. The true immune signals blur. By sampling interstitial fluid — a stable, cell-free medium that reflects the body’s molecular state — we capture immune activity in its real context. Our technology is built on this principle: collect cleaner data, at the right time, from the right matrix — so that every measurement reflects true biology, not the artifacts.

Built by scientists and makers redefining immune measurement.

Kascaid’s founding team unites deep expertise across proteomics, diagnostics, and systems biology. Together they’ve led pioneering work in biomarker discovery, pre-analytical science, and translational research — now channeling that experience into a new era of immune monitoring.

Kavya Swaminathan, PhD — Co-Founder & CEO

Kavya is a proteomics and immunology leader with a PhD in Infectious Disease from the University of Sydney and postdoctoral training at Stanford Medicine where she pioneered advanced assays for complex biomarkers in immune dysregulation. At biotech unicorns like PrognomiQ and Freenome, she built laboratories from the ground up and led proteomics biomarker discovery programs for early cancer detection.

At Kascaid, Kavya sets the company’s vision and strategic direction, aligning scientific rigor with clinical, commercial, and operational execution. She leads building the partnerships, teams, and scalable systems needed to turn real-time immune data into durable impact across drug development and patient care.

Austin B. Hall — Co-Founder & Chief Product Officer

Austin blends scientific rigor with inventive problem-solving, he rapidly masters technical domains and reshapes them into simple, powerful product architectures. He earned his B.S. in Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology from UC Santa Cruz, and spearheaded immunopeptidomics and T-cell–focused research in the Immunology and Bone Marrow Transplant division at Stanford Medicine. He has founded a successful apparel venture, sharpening his product instincts and operational creativity early in his career. At PrognomiQ and Freenome, Austin drove the development of pre-analytical workflows, creating biomolecular preservation and plasma-stabilization methods that strengthened the fidelity of large-scale immune profiling programs.

‍At Kascaid, Austin leads product innovation and development by translating complex immune-measurement science into simple, reliable tools. His cross-functional approach ensures the company builds technologies that are scientifically rigorous, operationally practical, and grounded in real clinical needs.

Scott Ferguson, PhD — Co-Founder & Chief Scientific Officer

Scott holds a PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University at Buffalo and completed postdoctoral training in Systems Biology at Harvard under Dr. Ralph Weissleder. A recognized leader in extracellular-vesicle research and liquid-biopsy diagnostics, he has authored numerous publications and holds two patents in early-detection methodologies.

At Kascaid, Scott applies his systems-biology and multi-omics expertise to develop next-generation diagnostic platforms that bring molecular measurement closer to the point of care.
